Antique Police Badges

Police badges were worn by officers in a municipality to identify them to anyone interested and verify their authority. There are a wide range of badges from rough badges cut from tin cans to elaborately carved gold presentation badges. The value of a police badge is based on its rarity, material, condition, and its provenance (if it can be determined who owned it and wore it).

Antique Police badges from large cities tend to be favored by collectors, but badges from smaller towns, especially from the Old West are also desirable.
